Matt's address is the same as my son Jon's. Here's hoping that they got to stay together. Jon's roster number is 21 so they may not have gotten to. I got the address yesterday as well but put PFC instead (Jon is E3). I suspect they said private in the letter because according to Jon and Matt most of the guys are 18 and right out of school. Jon's visitation is 8/28-29 and graduation is 10/1. He ended up doing 14 weeks (AIT right after basic). Here's hoping we get to meet sometime and please know we are keeping Matt in our thoughts and prayers.

ReplyDeleteIf you haven't done so, go to the Fort Benning web site at https://www.benning.army.mil/infantry/basictraining/faq.asp At the lower left corner they have the link to their facebook and then hit on discussions. Find the one for the B Co 1-50th and find a comment by Blackhawk Bravo. He's the soldier assigned to our group to answer any questions of the families, keep us up to date of what they are doing each week, and pass on any other important info. Hit on his name and then request him to accept you as a facebook friend (if you don't have a facebook page go to facebook.com and when you have it set it to private so people have to ask you first to be able to access it.) Once he accepts you, you can go to his page and read all he has posted and questions and comments from all the other parents, girlfriends, wives, etc. He is only on his page now. I stumbled on to this last night, his last night talking on the discussion page. One other thing in case you don't know...there is trivia Tues. on that Benning page and whoever wins the competition on a give Tues gets to pick which group of soldiers get to have their picture posted on the facebook page. Jan, This is great information! I will check it out. We are also planning to go for the Family Weekend in August and graduation October 1st. We will definately have to hook up.
